Plaza de la Familia
Hey, Mom and Pop. I was so lucky to be able to go to Disney's California Adventure two years in a row to remember you. Well, I remember you daily, but this tribute is extra special for us. I love and miss you so much!

I was so excited that I was able to be at Disney's California Adventure as they celebrated DÃa de los Muertos for the first time. They had a beautiful Tree of Life, where I was able to honor my Mom and Dad. I sure hope Disney continues this event. Mom and Dad loved coming to Disneyland, and I was able to Remember Them at the Tree of Life.

Bringing Animation to Life
This. Is. Amazing!
We are witnessing the evolution of Theme Park Attractions. The highly-anticipated Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Attraction that is scheduled to open at the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World later this year is going to have Guests captivated in their mine cars.
Walt Disney Imagineering has taken the stagnant faces of our beloved Disney characters and found a way to 'animate' them in 3-D. Take a look at these images. Notice Dopey's eyes and smile.
What the Imagineers have done is found a way to bring these characters to life. I was amazed with what they did with The Little Mermaid - Ariel's Undersea Adventure at Disney's California Adventure. I can't believe how much technology and Imagineer innovation has progressed in a few short years. Here's another example. Look at Grumpy.

Ink & Paint is Off The Page!
Thank you Disney!
Once again, you are gladly accepting my money! Truth be told, I'm happy to part with it. I guess I should be thankful for a healthy tax return. But there are two must-have cels (aren't they always?) that I just cannot pass up.
The first comes to us from Disneyland, and it is the second release from the Ink & Paint Department on the West Coast. The “Jiminy Cricket” cel is a limited edition size of 1000. Of course I went with the cel with postcard and pin option, which is limited to 750 pins. Pictures of the cel and the pin are below. Click here to order your "Jiminy Cricket" cel.

The next cel I ordered from Walt Disney World is literally "Off The Page", but not to be confused with 'Off The Page' at Disney's California Adventure. Spring Break 2013
What a road trip! I flew into Las Vegas, drove to Palm Springs for a couple of days, and then drove out to Anaheim, before driving back to Las Vegas to catch a red eye. Of course it was worth it!
Here are some of the trip's highlights.
What trip could be finer than by starting and ending with In-N-Out Burgers? This one is near the Rio off of Dean Martin Drive. They got more of my money than the slots did!
These next two shots are in Palm Springs. It was great seeing such pretty flowers again, so I'm hopeful Spring will return soon. As for Marilyn, I was lucky to see her last year in Chicago, and now I was able to visit her again here in the desert.
In my opinion, the Crab Cooker has some of the best clam chowder around. I waited as long to have this as I did to have my Double Double again, but it was so worth it. I love that they catch their fish fresh daily. You can tell the difference.
Did you really think I would be able to go to California without visiting my Laughin' Place? No trip to California is complete without visiting The Happiest Place on Earth. Not only was I able to see a few friends, but I also squeezed in a couple of character visits to see my big, cuddly friends. And I got some Dole Whip to boot!
I'd rather pay for a good meal than gamble, but when I found two different Star Wars slot machines at the Las Vegas airport while waiting for my 1:00 AM flight, I had to indulge. While the Force was with me in winning $20.00, I really lost $10.00. And that was totally acceptable as $10.00 is usually my limit.
Because I was going to do a lot of driving, I wanted to make sure I caught some rays. I paid the price by burning my head. I guess I have to admit I need to start wearing a hat to protect my melon.

2013 Tournament of Roses Parade
My New Year tradition is taking down Christmas (as much as I love Christmas, by New Year's I'm done with it!) and watching the Tournament of Roses Parade.
Well, I think I have one Rubbermaid tub to go of ornaments, when I needed a timely break. And that's because Disneyland Resort's Cars Land float, based on the new area at Disney's California Adventure, came on TV! It was very well done!
The float 'broke down' on the parade route, as floats do, but how many floats have their very own tow truck? Here comes Mater to the rescue!
Leave it to Mater to 'Git 'er done!'
A little after the Cars Land float, the Ministry of Tourism & Creative Economies, Republic of Indonesia had a float entry.
It, too, was a beautiful float, and I'm sure my relatives would approve!
